April 2nd's album of the week

Ladyhawk's album "Shots"

After the show on Saturday night, I have been listening to this album so much. It's raw sound and catchy lyrics and guitar riffs make it a pleasure to listen to. There's even a bit of angst in there to get me through the day. I absolutely love this band and love this album almost as much as their debut self-titled album. However, I have to say that the cover art is weird and perhaps even a bit unappetizing. So I close my eyes and enjoy the album!

March 19th Album of the Week

The Juno Soundtrack!

Now, I have been told by a certain someone that soundtracks are for "housewives and school girls." I disagree since I am neither of these and I love this soundtrack! However, I am a huge fan of Kimya Dawson and the Moldy Peaches (even if Barbara W. doesn't get them). I am also a huge fan of Belle and Sebastian, the Kinks, Sonic Youth and Buddy Holly! So to putting them all on one soundtrack is, to me, amazing. Despite not seeing the movie, I have a feeling of what it is about just based on the songs from this soundtrack.

March 12th Album of the Week

Josh Ritter - The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter

I have been addicted to this album since I picked it up at his show a week ago. It was such a great show! He played almost all the tracks off of this album. I have a hard time picking a favorite song, but it's probably "Right Moves" or the track I played today "Real Long Distance."
